IMPORTANT INFORMATION

In fourth grade, we will switch classes daily. Mrs. Tugwell will teach reading, English Language Arts, and social studies. Miss Williamson will teach math, spelling, and science. We are so excited to share what we love about each subject with your child.

  • Students are required to arrive to school by 7:45 a.m. each day and will begin instruction immediately. Dismissal is at 3:05 p.m.
  • You will receive our classroom newsletter each Monday to inform you of our weekly classroom plans and test schedule, upcoming events, and class announcements. The newsletter is to be read by the parents and students. It is very important for you and your child to stay up-to-date on what is happening in our classes.
  • Students will have some homework each week. Students are expected to write down, complete all homework assignments, and turn them in on time. Students will also need to study vocabulary and material for upcoming content in their other subjects such as science and social studies. Homework is a great way to practice the content that is covered in class.
  • Test folders will go home each Wednesday. Please look for those, review the test papers with your child, sign the conduct sheet, and have your child return them the next day.
  • We are excited that all students will participate in Accelerated Reading (A.R.) again this year. Students will be required to meet their comprehension and point goals each term. A.R. performance will be taken for a reading grade this year.  We will average your child’s comprehension score with his/her point score.  That score will be put in the gradebook for a reading test grade. Students should be reading about 15-20 minutes every evening working toward their A.R. goal.
  • Each student will start with a 100/A+ in conduct each term. Refer to the weekly conduct sheet that is sent home on Wednesdays to check behavior/conduct marks. Students are rewarded for positive behavior throughout the term.

REMINDERS:

  • Good study habits are essential. Review skills for each subject nightly.
  • Please encourage your child to be INDEPENDENT & RESPONSIBLE!
  • Parents must call the school or email the teacher to set up conferences. We have to plan those at certain times during the day.
  • If you would like to send treats for your child’s birthday, please send them for us to pass out during lunch (11:40-12:00)
  • If you need to check your child out from school early, it is your child’s responsibility to get the assignments from the classes he/she will miss.
  • If your child is absent, please call the school that morning by 10:00 a.m. if you would like to pick his/her assignments up. This will help keep your child up to date with his/her class work. If assignments are needed for multiple days, they may not be ready  to be picked up until the next day.
  • Our school implements positive behavior. Please continue to encourage your child at home and at school to be the best student they can be by being SAFE, RESPECTFUL, and RESPONSIBLE.

Please feel free to contact us for any questions, concerns, or comments throughout the school year. We are here to help you and your child. You may call the school anytime. If it is during instructional time, we will return your call as soon as possible. Emailing is a great way to communicate with us. It is easy for us to respond to an email when we have an extra minute during the day.
